Jim Bailey - passed away peacefully in Dec 2025.

Thank you for your love and support. A BELOVED FATHER, FRIEND AND SOUL.

Jim’s faith and ministry were central to who he was, and his legacy will live on through his music, which meant so much to him and to those he shared it with.

We are incredibly thankful for the kindness, support, and prayers shown to our family during this time.

Thank you all,

Jordan, Amy and Bex

Jim worked as a Youth Trainer , teaching  young people on YTS schemes  how to use computers.

After doing this for a few years  he somehow ended up  studying theology and became an ordained minister, more to his suprise than anyone elses!

Jim  continued in local pastoral ministry,  with an emphasis on reaching out to those on the margins, placing an importance on children's and family ministry.

Jim has always had a love for, and a way with  words. His songwriting came out  of necessity,  more than anything else and this grew to become the main part of his working life.

Over the next 25 years, Jim toured  the UK and abroad with his unique brand  of  music shows.

During this time working as a professional songwriter and performer he produced  over ten albums.

On this crazy journey he also mastered the skills of escapology and the highlight of some of his shows was escaping from a padlocked trunk, in handcuffs and a straightjacket!

Jim pioneered the use of innovative technology, animations, puppets , juggling and gospel illusions to communicate  a relevant and meaningful  presentation of  a simple message, "You are unique,  you are loved, there is a reason you are here"

After three decades of devoted service in both itinerant and local ministry, Jim embraced a quieter and more contemplative chapter of life.

His later years were centred on prayer, reflection, and discernment nurturing a deep relationship with the Divine while seeking ways to serve the greater good. Jim often reflected on the questions:
“How can I be fully present in the deepening now of this moment, and excessively gentle with my soul?”

Through his journey along the Pilgrim Paths, Jim became a true “contemplative in action.” He offered retreats, quiet days, workshops, and spiritual accompaniment, helping people from all walks of life discover deeper connection, meaning, and nourishment in listening to their own lives.

An active companion of the Northumbria Community, Jim was also a trained Ignatian spiritual accompanier, a Veriditas Advanced Labyrinth Facilitator, and a SoulCollage® facilitator. His gentle presence, wisdom, and compassion touched many lives.

Jim’s legacy lives on in the peace he shared, the souls he guided, and the kindness with which he walked beside others.
