Labyrinth Places (UK)
On this page you will find details of some labyrinths that you
can walk in a welcoming, Christian setting in the UK.
Some are situated in ‘Retreat Centres’ and may not be generally
open to the public - they are, however, very special places to stay for a few days…all are welcome…

St Beuno's Ignatian Spirituality Centre
St Beuno’s Ignatian Spirituality Centre extends a welcome to all who seek a
time of reflection, prayer and peace.
The beautiful hillside setting, with its views of the mountains of Snowdonia and the North Wales coast, has long provided people with the space to reflect on the presence of God in their lives and in the world.
The Centre is well known for its warm welcome and quiet atmosphere. Retreats and Programmes are inspired by Ignatian spirituality - a Christian approach to prayer, sorting out priorities and seeking the will of God.
St Asaph, Denbighshire, LL17 0AS Wales
Shepherds Dene provides the space to think, the chance to grow and walk more closely with God. It is an Edwardian country estate given to the Diocese of Newcastle in 1945 within easy of reach of Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham. It is a spiritual place for peace and quiet and sometimes for fun and celebration as well.
We welcome guests of all denominations and faiths - and those without a faith - who share our purpose of seeking and discovering before they take action.
The Chartres style labyrinth is open to visitors at any reasonable time

St. Augustine's Priory - Conwy
The House of Prayer is a place of spiritual renewal, where those who come can find God in an atmosphere of love, prayer, healing and peace. We offer space for a break from the busy-ness of life, a time to rest and ‘let go’ of the burdens of everyday life.
We welcome groups and individuals from England, Scotland, and Ireland as well as other parts of Wales. We hope that anyone who comes to the ‘House of Prayer’ will feel at home and enjoy being with us in this delightful place. We offer space where you can be more present to God and to yourself, where you can pray, rest or walk - whatever helps you to unwind and to ‘BE’ with God and more present to yourself.
Cliff Road, Old Colwyn, CONWY, LL29 9RW, N. Wales.
The Portiuncula - Derbyshire
Welcome to our hermitages. We have tried to preserve Saint Francis' spirit of contemplative prayer, littleness, loving service, Gospel simplicity and warm fraternity as the hallmarks of our hermitage experience.
We have five hermitages under one roof, set in rural Derbyshire.
The hermitage experience offers the invitation and challenge to journey into the depths of one's own heart and into the Heart of God.
Our Peace Garden captures something very dear to the heart of Saint Francis: his love of creation and his mission of peace. Towards the centre of the Peace Garden we have a labyrinth; for many people the Christian labyrinth walk is a healing experience leading to deep inner peace.

Our full size replica of the Chartres labyrinth was built by the Community in 2011 and is available to guests resident at the Centre. Sorry, but it is not accessible to casual callers.
Special labyrinth days and retreats are included in our programme.

The Bield is a retreat and small conference centre and our vision of wholeness and healing flows from our commitment to Christ. Bield is a resonant old Scottish word, which means ‘shelter’ or ‘refuge’. It also has the connotation of ‘nurture’ and ‘encouragement’, all qualities we hope guests will experience during their time with us.
A labyrinth has been created in the orchard offering opportunity for walking, meditation and prayer – following the ancient way of walking sacred paths. Our Labyrinth is cut into the grass with 7 paths on an equal-armed cross shape. The inclusion of the trees resonate with the organic nature of The Bield. There is a willow arch entrance and a willow arbor with a wooden boulder sculpture at the centre.
